Furnishing your bedroom with luxurious fabrics is always an enjoyable factor - especially with new bed linen. Even today, if you are still sleeping on your old linens from the ancestral closet - this is the right time to shop for the best quality linens.
To preserve and keep its originality for ever, you should wash them frequently - correct and scheduled time of laundering is highly essential. When buying brand new linen - ensure that it has been affixed with a label that carries information about how to wash and dry it - and about the nature of the product.
Before washing the linens - sort out the colors and the whites - wash the former first and the latter next. Blankets - bed sheets - bed covers and pillow cases made of either cotton, linen or a cotton linen blend, all these should be washed in warm water - and be aware that the washing cycle should be gentle.
To preserve the fabric - always use good detergents, but add only half of the recommended quantity. Also avoid bleaching the linen as it would destroy the fiber and produce nasty yellow stains - particularly when you dry the linen directly under sunlight. Preferably, you can add some fabric conditioner in the final stage of washing - so as to keep your linen nice and soft. If you notice any stains on your Bed linen - pre-soak it in cold water using oxygen pre-soaker. If the linen is found heavy soiled - it may be required to be put it in for soaking for at least 8 hours. For protein stains such as blood - use salt if you don’t have pre-soaker. Just add 2 tablespoons of salt in half a bucket of cold water and immerse the linen into the water for a couple of hours.
