Sunday Suppers began over a love of food and the desire to bring a community of like-minded people together. Its latest incarnation came to the idyllic corner of North East Victoria’s Dunmore Farm (where you can also stay and enjoy our bed linens).
I have a passion for creating and designing unique experiences and gatherings, especially those that are centered around people, community and food. It was whilst conceptualizing our inaugural Dunmore gathering, I thought of Sunday Suppers as a like-minded partner so I applied to be a host of their Sobremesa dinners, a global dinner series where a portion of the proceeds from each dinner goes to The Hunger Project, a global program based on an innovative, holistic approach, which empowers women and men living in rural villages to become the agents of their own development and make sustainable progress in overcoming hunger and poverty.
We had 24 incredible people attend and support our very first supper and whilst seating was very organic, sitting next to someone you didn’t know was very much encouraged.
Styling was simple and elegant, influenced by the natural surrounds and season. I used I Love Linens Natural table cloth which was paired with I Love Linens French linen napkins in Ochre and Charcoal Stripe with beautiful Clay Beehive serving platters. The silver cutlery and candelabras are Angus’s (my fiancé) family heirlooms, with added botanicals from our farm.
Our event was incredibly successful because of the people, partners and the most amazing food that dear friend and very talented chef, Sarah Kennon prepared. When I first started ideating, I said to Sarah it was going to be an intimate gathering for 12—14 guests and then before we knew it, we had over 20 tickets sold. Sarah made our event possible and it was made even more special partnering with I Love Linen, Dal Zotto Wines, and Clay beehive ceramics, all of whom I am so grateful to for the support.
For me personally, planning, people, partners, and place are the key elements that make for a truly special event. We’re in planning mode for our next event (date to be announced soon!) and inspired to build on the incredible success of our first Supper whilst elevating it to create another unique experience at Dunmore Farm.
